¡Wepa! BCS Stats Systems brings StatMonitr services to the 2010 Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- BCS Stats Systems has reached an agreement with ESPN Regional Television, the owner and operator of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament, to provide its StatMonitr media stats services at the 2010 tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 18-21, 2010.
"This not only represents an excellent opportunity to showcase the ability of our system to be deployed in any venue, even internationally, but also will hopefully lead to more use of our products at preseason college basketball tournaments," said BCS Stats' company president Nate Policar. "Especially with the high profile of the eight institutions participating in the tournament this year, our StatMonitr product will enable the tournament coordinators to not only provide live stats to the media and staff onsite, but also remotely to the media who are unable to travel to the Islands due to budgeting or travel conflicts."
The Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament (www.puertoricotipoff.com), in its fourth year, will be held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, in the Hato Rey district of San Juan. The tournament features 12 games in three days, nine of which will be televised live nationally on the ESPNU and ESPN2 networks, and uses a bracket-tournament format, with the two winners from each side of the bracket facing each other in a championship game on Sunday, Nov. 21.
This year's field is headlined by West Virginia and North Carolina. Also in the bracket will be Davidson, Hofstra, Minnesota, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky. Four of the eight participants reached the 2010 postseason, including West Virginia’s run to the 2010 Final Four.
